About the Role
We’re working with an independent small animal practice in Hertfordshire seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team for maternity cover starting December 2025. This is a full-time role, with the possibility of a longer-term or permanent position for the right candidate.

The team takes pride in delivering high-quality care to both clients and their pets, supported by all the expected modern equipment and a collaborative, experienced clinical team.

What You’ll Be Doing
This is a varied and hands-on nursing role. Responsibilities will include:

Running nurse clinics

Monitoring anaesthesia and assisting with procedures

Inpatient care and recovery

Reception duties and client communication

Supporting rota planning and day-to-day practice operations

Youll work closely with a small, friendly team including two vets, a full-time RVN, and a part-time RVN — all happy to provide insight into what makes this practice a great place to work.

Schedule & Working Pattern
Average 38 hours per week

3–4 day working week

No out-of-hours

Typical shifts: 8:30–4:30 or 10:30–7:30

Approx. 1 in 4 Saturday mornings

Regular 3-day weekends off

This rota is designed to offer a balance between fulfilling clinical work and valuable time off for rest, travel, or family life.

Candidate Requirements
RCVS-registered veterinary nurse (UK)

Confident and experienced in a variety of nursing tasks

Team-focused, adaptable, and happy to pitch in across different areas of the practice

Strong communication and organisational skills
