Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Hospital | Bedfordshire
2–5 Years UK Experience | Full or Part Time Considered

A well-established, busy independent veterinary hospital in Bedfordshire is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive and highly skilled team.

This opportunity would suit a vet with 2–5 years’ UK post-graduate experience, who has completed their GDP and is confident managing a busy first opinion caseload independently. The successful candidate will be comfortable with routine consultations, diagnostics, and surgery, and enjoy working within a collaborative hospital environment focused on long-term development and clinical progression.

The practice is open to considering 3, 4 or 5 days per week, with a full-time position equating to 37.5 hours per week.

The Role
Full-time equivalent: 37.5 hours per week
Flexible working pattern: 3, 4 or 5 days considered
1 in 4 Saturday daytime rota
Friday evening inpatient hospital cover
Emergency admissions supported externally by a dedicated OOH provider
Standard 15-minute consultations
Salary range dependent on experience: £40,000 – £55,000

About You
Have 2–5 years UK post-graduate veterinary experience
Have completed your GDP
Be confident and efficient with routine first opinion caseloads
Be comfortable performing routine surgery independently
Enjoy working in a fast-paced hospital setting
Be keen to continue growing clinically and professionally

This role may particularly suit a vet with a strong GP/medical interest, looking to develop within a hospital environment. Due to the structure of the team and theatre allocation, it may be less suited to someone seeking a heavily surgery-focused caseload.

Facilities & Support
This is a large independent veterinary hospital with a highly experienced team and multiple certificate holders across areas including:
Small Animal Medicine

Ultrasound and advanced imaging
Cardiology and echocardiography
ECC and complex case management
Surgical progression, including emergency and advanced soft tissue procedures

Please note: Unfortunately sponsorship is not available for this position, although candidates with settled status are welcome to apply.
