Senior Veterinary Nurse – ECC / Hospital Function

Are you an experienced RVN with a passion for emergency and inpatient care?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the ECC and hospital nursing team at a busy, well-equipped practice in South West London. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership to deliver a gold-standard level of patient care while mentoring and supporting the nursing team.

The Role:
As the Senior ECC/Hospital Nurse, youll oversee all aspects of the emergency and inpatient function. Youll work collaboratively with clinical leaders, guide nursing apprentices and ECC nurses, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. This hands-on leadership role is perfect for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide and lead nursing clinics, including training, delivery, and team meetings

Support and coach apprentice and junior nurses

Deliver high standards of nursing care and act as a clinical coach

Oversee diagnostics and prepare for inpatient and emergency cases

Perform in-house diagnostics, lab work, radiography, and sample processing

Manage stock control, audits, and controlled drugs protocols

Maintain and log all clinical equipment

Supervise inpatient care and recovery/discharge of hospitalised patients

Collaborate with rota managers on cover and rota design when needed

What Youll Need:

Strong clinical nursing skills, especially in ECC and diagnostics

Confidence in leading a team and mentoring others

Excellent communication, organisation, and time management abilities

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

A proactive, problem-solving mindset

Previous leadership or senior nursing experience preferred

Hours:

7 days on / 7 days off

Alternating weeks of days and nights

Salary:

£30,000–£35,000 depending on experience
