We are partnering with a growing, privately owned mixed practice in Parkes, Central West NSW, who opened their doors in April this year and are looking for locum vets to join their supportive team.

Role details:

One room currently available in a private rented house for locums a second room may become available shortly

Pay rate is negotiable and depends on whether you work as a casual employee or ABN contractor

Casual employee locums currently paid at $90/hour with accommodation included

Experience required: comfortable with basic large animal work (small livestock) — no expectation to perform horse dentals, geldings, advanced field anaesthetics, or work with alpacas/goats/sheep at this stage

After-hours work is minimal but shared, increasing during spring/summer (e.g., snake bites)

Sole charge only occasionally required, primarily in spring and while mentoring the new graduate

Practice hours are 9am–5pm Monday to Friday Saturday mornings may open as staffing increases

Practice facilities and caseload:

Mixed practice covering large and small animals with in-house pathology, AI Imagyst, digital radiography, and ultrasound

Consultations are generally 30 minutes (shorter for routine vaccinations)

Services include spey/castrations, lump removals, dentals, and major soft tissue surgeries such as splenectomy, cystotomy, GDV, exploratory laparotomies

Hospitalisation available for medical cases

Referral for CT and complex surgeries are 1.5 hours away
