Help Search Locate seeks a Professor or Senior Clinician in Small Animal Surgery for our University client in Scotland
Location: Glasgow
Contract: Full-time, open-ended (part-time considered)
Salary: Senior Clinician (Grade 9): £59,966 – £67,468 per annum
Professorial level: Salary negotiable
Both with generous veterinary supplement DOE, Out of Hours stipend, and employer pension contribution
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Professor or Senior Clinician in Small Animal Surgery to lead and deliver clinical excellence, research, and teaching at a prestigious academic institution in Scotland.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team of specialists within a referral hospital equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities. The role involves delivering high-quality surgical care, contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching, and leading or supporting clinical research and strategic development of the surgery service.
Candidates may be considered at either Senior Clinician (Grade 9) or Professor (Grade 10) level depending on experience and academic credentials.
The Role
You will:
Provide specialist-level small animal surgical services
Support the ongoing development of surgical training and clinical scholarship
Contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and clinical scholar programmes
Participate in out-of-hours rota
Engage in leadership and strategy development (Grade 10)
Deliver and publish high-quality clinical research
Play a key role in the future direction of the service and School
Candidate Profile
Essential:
RCVS-registrable veterinary degree
Postgraduate qualification in small animal surgery (European, American, Australian, or RCVS Diploma)
Extensive clinical experience in referral-level small animal surgery
Experience in clinical teaching and scholarship
Strong communication and leadership skills
For Professorial appointment:
Internationally recognised research portfolio in small animal surgery
Proven leadership in clinical academia
Extensive teaching and curriculum development experience
Strategic and financial management capability
Desirable:
PhD or research training
Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
Record of successful supervision and competitive research funding
