About the Practice & Team
My client in Hampshire is a well-established, independent small animal practice.
The clinical team currently consists of 4 veterinarians, 4 registered veterinary nurses, and 1 trainee nurse.
The practice provides a full range of small animal services, including consultations, routine surgery, diagnostics (imaging and laboratory work), and dental procedures.
Opening hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30?am–7:00?pm, and Saturday 9:00?am–12:00?pm, offering a structured working schedule with minimal out-of-hours commitment.
Role & Responsibilities
The Veterinary Surgeon will:
Deliver high-quality consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and preventive care for small animals.
Perform routine surgical procedures (e.g., neutering, mass removals) and dental treatments.
Interpret diagnostic tests (blood work, imaging) to inform clinical decisions.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients, explaining findings and treatment options.
Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
Contribute to clinical governance, team meetings, and continuous professional development.
Support junior vets or trainees as required.
Participate in Saturday morning clinics according to rota.
Person Specification / Skills & Experience
Essential:
Veterinary degree recognised in the UK / eligible for RCVS registration.
Experience in a small animal practice (post-graduation preferred).
Competency in routine surgery and dentistry.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload efficiently.
Desirable:
Interest or experience in developing a certificate or specialty (e.g., dentistry).
Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced vets.
Additional skills such as ultrasound, advanced imaging, or advanced surgical techniques.
