We are seeking an experienced and passionate Clinical Head Nurse to join a well-established, independent veterinary group in Swindon on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Operating across three sites, including a new gold-standard cat-only clinic, this practice prides itself on delivering high-quality, in-house care with minimal need for referrals. With a team of 38 staff members, including 17 nurses, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role within a supportive, professional and teaching-focused environment.

The Role

As Clinical Head Nurse, you will:

Lead clinical management across all sites, including the development and maintenance of clinical protocols

Work closely with senior vets to ensure the highest clinical standards are maintained

Supervise, support and induct clinical staff, helping guide their professional development

Collaborate with clinic and practice managers on HR matters, recruitment and team management

Oversee RCVS standards compliance and act as a clinical coach to support the wider team

About You

Minimum 5 years’ nursing experience, ideally with leadership responsibilities

RVN qualified, ideally with RPA and RLA and experience as a clinical coach

Additional qualifications in leadership or management would be advantageous

Highly organised, proactive and passionate about animal welfare

A supportive leader and strong communicator who enjoys developing others
