Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Coastal Sussex (Independent Practice)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a long-established, independent, 100% small animal practice with over 40 years of history. This is a rare chance to help shape the future of a well-loved, community-focused village clinic in a truly beautiful coastal setting.

This position has become available as a valued colleague moves into the charity sector.

The Role

Permanent full or part-time position
Mix of consulting and operating (including dentistry)
Some sole charge responsibility (with support available as needed)
1 in 3 Saturday mornings
One evening per week until 6:30pm
No out-of-hours work (OOH covered by external provider)
Overtime paid where applicable
At least 12 months’ experience preferred

Independent, multi-award-winning, RCVS-accredited small animal clinic
Strong ethos of continuity of care and “one pet, one vet” philosophy
Established, friendly and highly experienced team including 3 vets, 5 RVNs, and experienced reception staff
Compact, well-equipped and modernised premises (refurbished 2023)
On-the-day appointments reserved daily for urgent sick patients
Strong emphasis on relationship-led, general practice veterinary care

Facilities Include

Digital radiography and digital dental radiography
Ultrasound
In-house laboratory (including Vetscan Imagyst)
Multiparameter monitoring and modern anaesthesia (Sevoflurane)
Dedicated theatre and hospitalisation facilities
Visiting specialists available (ultrasound, endoscopy, ophthalmology as required)

Candidate Requirements

RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
Confident in general practice medicine and surgery
Able to work some sole charge
Strong communication and client care skills
Empathetic, thoughtful and team-oriented approach
Comfortable making balanced clinical decisions based on patient needs and client circumstances
